My wife recently started running extensively. She is training for a Marathon in November (and doing quite well.)

What are some gift ideas that are good for a new runner? I read a tennis magazine article that mentioned Foam Rollers and thought this might be good for her to keep her muscles loose.

Any ideas are appreciated.

Hello-

You may want to look at the Massage sticks and other recovery pieces that may help her out after long runs. Also, any of the resistance bands and body-weight training pieces would also be very helpful to her for cross training purposes. Please feel free to call us directly at Perform Better any time you have a questions on our equipment.

Have a great day!

The foam roller is a fantastic way to alleviate tension in the overactive areas of her body (calf, IT-band, peroneals, etc). You should also look into getting some balance training exercise dvd's. Walking and running is performed on one leg, so it's important to train on one leg.
I hope this helps.

From my experience I was always looking for something to help strengthen my feet and ankles, as well as roll out my sore spots (foam roller). I love the AFX - from a Canadian company I think, but when I looked at their website they do ship to the US. Super easy to strap yourself in and stretch and strengthen your feet and ankles. Another friend of mine who is a trail runner swears by it. Got him back running when nothing else did.

Hope this helps.
